My novel study

For the last few weeks Rimu has been doing novel study I did my book on where she went witch is about a boy called Adam how has a girl friend who had a out of body experience. Adam can not get over Mia leaving him for Juliard. I presented my novel study on a site called Prezi please use the arrow keys to play it I hope you enjoy my prezi.

Prototec is a Maths website where you do different stages of tests. I find it really good for basic facts and timetables. We do it every day so it will sink into our minds. We use graphs so we can keep up with how we are doing. Here is my graph for Prototec from the last 6 weeks and do not forget to give Prototec a go!

100 word challenge

This is my 100 word challenge.

As the smoked slowly cleared,  I saw a strange light coming from my house I was  the only one home mum was still out getting dinner maybe she is home already I guess I should go see I ran towards the door and pushed it open the house was empty maybe she was in bed. I better go get some sleep I walked towards my bedroom and pushed the door open I found a girl standing the corner of my room with black hair that flooded her face and a  she stared at me the corner of her eye I ran out to my room and to the door I rushed outside grabbed my keys and started to drive towards the shop. Mum’s walking out of the shop and towards her car. “Wait” I  yelled.

Novel study

For the last few weeks Rimu has been doing Novel study. I Did my novel study on if I stay. My book is about a girl who has a car crash and all her family dies but her and she is having an out of body experience. We had to do a certain amount of activities. My favorite activity was doing the dust cover. The thing I found the hardest was doing the blurb because I wanted it to sound like the author wrote it. Otherwise I think I did really well on my novel study. The one thing I would do different is my dust cover. Have you ever done novel study in your class?

Canta Maths

This year the year 6s were allowed to do Canta Maths. I chose to do a brochure for a family holiday to Rio. My favourite bit about Canta Maths was decorating the brochure. I put a parrot and a statue on my brochure. The hardest part was work out all the maths for how much the trip was going to cost. I chose to have 5 star hotel and business class for my plane. I found it really fun because we got to choose our plane and hotel. I wish we could have worked in a group though. I wonder if next year's Canta Maths will be harder? I very much enjoyed Canta Maths and cannot wait to next year's Canta Maths.

Digi Awards

Every year Rimu enters the Digi awards. The theme this year was 'Be the Change'. I was in a group with Evie and Ariana. We did a video about bullying and how you could be the change. We chose to do an i-Movie. Evie was the bully and Ariana was the hero and I was the victim. The thing we found the hardest was when Evie did not agree with us on the video idea. My favourite bit about the Digi Awards was watching the video at the  end. We did not place anywhere but we did have a lot of fun. I can not wait till next year's Digi Awards! I wonder what next years Digi Awards theme will be?

Smoking should be iIlegal

In the last few weeks Rimu have been learning to write speeches. My speech is about how smoking should be illegal. The reason I chose my topic is that  I think smoking is a horrible habit that  must be stopped. I was focusing on persuasive writing and showing my listener that smoking should be illegal and why. My favourite bit about writing my speech was presenting it in front of the class. The thing I think I did the best was looking up when I was presenting. The thing I think should work on was doing more hand movements and being a bit louder. Otherwise I think I did really well on my speech and I can not wait till next year speeches.

Cycle safe!

Cycle safe

This week we have been doing Cycle Safe. I think I did really well on my signals but I need work on knowing where to bike on the road and biking straight when I do my signals. The thing I most enjoyed was riding on the road and weaving around cones I learnt that is good to be pushed past your limit when you’re on your bike. I think my next steps are to be more confident on the road and making sure I do the 'lifesaver look' closer to the footpath. I thought Cycle Safe was really fun this year and I can’t wait till next year’s Cycle Safe.

This week I started a new animation. My animation is about a girl having a normal day, but then something changed her life completely! Sorry about it not being finished, I hope you enjoy my animation.

My Timetable & Goals for Term 3!

Here is my timetable for Term 3. It changes every week slightly depending on what we are doing and what my goals are. You can see what my goals are in the top. I am working hard to achieve these goals this term doing things like STEPS, making sure I'm following my timetable, my proofreading and editing book, word study, 100 word challenge, storybird and night zookeeper. This term I am looking forward to making our DigiAward! I am in a group with Ariana and Evie and it is about making a change in the world. We want to do no bullying. Enjoy looking and commenting!

100 word challenge: Girl in my closet

I was playing my violin when I heard a loud thud so I walked over to my closet where I had heard the noise I opened and found a little blue door I bent down on my knees and crawled into my closet and pushed the wood door till it opened I went threw door and he door closed everything went black.

I felt the floor drop I do’tn remember anything after that. I woke up on white bed I hear a loud screamed it echoed off the walls a little girl walked to me wearing a yellow shirt with an airplane on it

Kaphaka

Yestreday we did Kaphaka and we sang some songs.
Kaphaka is a mix of Maori singing and dancing!

My ANZAC reading activities!

These are my ANZAC activities that I have been doing for 3 weeks. I learnt how to voice record using Screencastify which is cool. I learnt that there was a poet (Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae) who would write about the War - they are all sad and thoughtful. He passed away. I learnt that horses helped fight in the war and that the soldiers had mascots, for their country or who they were fighting for. I liked writing the poem the best and making the animation because I like animations - they're fun. Hope you enjoy all of my work!

Top Ten ways to look after a chromebook.

Last term we created a movie on how to look after our Chromebooks. It's important so we don't break them and pay a fine! It's way easier to write when you have a Chromebook, that's why they're good in the classroom. The thing I found the trickiest was not cracking up laughing! Enjoy!

I drove to the movies on Monday and saw Zootopia.

I need to go toilet the whole time.

But it was so worth it so I didn't miss the funny bits.

My favorite characters was Judy Hopps and Her buddy Nick and Flash.

It was a very good movie in the end. I thought it was funny when the Flash got caught for speeding and said hey Nick.

Van Gogh Starry night panting

This morning the Year 6 did Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Starry night’ painting. I used a big brush to create the windy night sky effect. We all did a part of the painting so that when we had all finished we could glue them all together on a big piece of paper. We learnt  all about Vincent van Gogh and how he cut off his earlobe and gave it to a woman.  I enjoyed learning about Vincent van Gogh and learning how to do his skills. We described our learning using SOLO and my thinking is Multistructural because I can describe several things about Van Gogh’s painting skills. My next step is to describe several things about Van Gogh paintings, explain why I used this skill and how his painting skills impacted on our world.

MATHS

In the last couple of weeks me and my friends Evie and Ariana did a math puzzle and completed it we all worked together really well we all found it really challenging so it felt really good when we had finished. Thank you for looking at my post.

CAMP!

CAMP!

Come and see come when we arrived  me and Ariana cracked up laughing it funny when they were yelling  and screaming ‘dead body dead body’.

Finally after a couple minutes we got see are tiny cabins right next the woods.

Know Mr m announced ‘we will be going tree climbing and the other will be going on a walk’. ‘The parents for tree climbing are Leanne and Sarah’ Mr m yelled let's go I said to my come on to mum Finally we were got there we had to wear helmets and other climbing gear I really enjoyed the first tree but it was a bit easy for me after hour had passed we went the kitchen and talked about our day and wrote in our journals and colored them in then we went to unpack.

The next day we went on a walk to a waterfall we even drunk the river water it was yum we got pictures of us standing by the waterfall I slipped and fell on my butt it was so funny when we got back we played the paint and I got hit in the stomach but I kept playing after that we had the gross food and went to bed me and Ariana stayed up to 2:00 in the morning it was so fun I was so tired.

when camp was over I was so happy to get back to my own bed I really enjoyed camp and my favorite thing was the hot pools I thought it was a good that I went and I would go again would hope for next time better food.

The not so fun day

The not so fun day

One day I was walking along the footpath then all of a sudden the ground started to crack. I tried to run away but a branch grabbed my ankle and pulled me down then everything went black.

I woke up on a dirty old rock covered in moss. I immediately hopped off and brushed my dress and yelled out a scream. I heard little foot steps coming towards me. Then I looked down to see a little girl who was crying. "Hi" the little girl mumbled as a tear drop ran down her face. "Can you help me I'm lost?" I had no reply.

Then she said "can you please answer me". "Sorry I said". I did not mean to day dream. Okay how did you get here? I said. She said that she got grabbed and got pulled by a vine and got thrown in a hole it was scary. What about you? she said same I said. Come on let's go try and find a why out of this place I yelled as I ran to a gate as she followed along with me. Come on I yelled open as the little girl sat on the ground. So can we play hid and seek the little girl yelled. No I replied in angery voice. "why the little girl replied"?"because you said you needed help not playing hide and seek"! Sorry she said in a sad vioce."I do not even know your name I yelled"! Lucy she mumbled."I am Oliva I said nice to meet you come on lets go Lucy now".

"Finally"I said "where home not on anther plant". Lucy craked up laughing. "So where your house"? "right over there she". pointed to a lovley green house whith big windose. "okay bye" I yelled as I walked to my house "what a day I can not wait to tomorrow".

Point Of View/ Writing

Last week our writing task was to write a short essay about R.J Palacio book ‘Wonder’. We had to  explain what point of view ‘Wonder’ was in use quotes and paragraphs from the book we also had to write a conclusion. I really enjoyed the book ‘Wonder’ and I can not wait to finish it. ‘Wonder’ is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written in the first person.

I know it's in first person because August said “My name is August I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking it's probably worse.”  

Also August said,

“I hung out with Jack in homeroom, English, history,music, and science, which were all the classes we had together.”

August thought the story was funny when the nurse farted. He said,

“I like when mom tells this story because it makes me laugh so much.”

Therefor I think that R.J Palacio wrote it in the first person in the novel ‘Wonder.

Maths with friends!

Every morning we do maths activities on our time tables. Today I did a math puzzle with my friend Violet. We both found it challenging at the start but in the end we both managed to finish it.
